Sigfreid Echo Hemming, 2023

Short Bio

"Cowboy" Cameron Summers and the Surrey Iron Railway Orchestra hammer out a brand of country music pulled from the dim, smoky honky-tonks of the late 1950s and early 1960s.  Influenced by legends like Ray Price and Willie Nelson, their performances have an unforgettable energy that gets modern crowds dancing and singing, and brings them back in time to the rowdiest hoedowns of the Golden Age of Country.

Long Bio

Cameron's musical journey is a lifelong odyssey fueled by a passionate love for diverse genres, spanning from classic country to ragtime to funk to easy listening. Traditional folk music, in particular, holds a special place in his heart. He boasts an encyclopedic knowledge of traditional lyrics and melodies from English-language folk traditions, helping him bridge the past and present, giving his music a uniquely timeless feel.

In 2020, during the pandemic, Cameron released a self-titled EP, influenced by Jazz, Folk, 70s Synth-Pop, and French Impressionism. His next project was Cameron Summers Sings Folk Songs, a collection of traditional folk songs, employing minimal production, in an attempt to recreate the live and raw sounds of 78rpm recordings from the 1920s.

Following a short hiatus, Cameron's musical output transitioned to singles. The latest addition to his catalog is an arrangement of "Wild Bill Jones," a traditional folk ballad first recorded by Eva Davis in  1924. At this time, he also began leading a band and started performing at iconic venues including the Horseshoe Tavern, The Cameron House, The Dakota Tavern, The Free Times Cafe, and more.

These days he spends his time writing, producing, and playing with his band, The Surrey Iron Railway Orchestra as often as he can.
